Babe Ruth or Derek Jeter?

Babe Ruth Central was doing some of its regular Ruth research on the web and came across an article from last year from the NY Daily News, which discusses a survey conducted by Siena College. The survey asked, “Who is New York’s all-time greatest athlete?” Interestingly, of the 801 New York state residents polled, the winner with 14% of the vote was Derek Jeter. Babe Ruth was second with 11% of the vote and the next closest were Mickey Mantle, Joe Dimaggio and Joe Namath (all with 4% each). What do you think fans? Is the Siena College survey done last year flawed or could Derek Jeter now be considered the best athlete to represent the state of New York?
