Last night, 10/29/14, the San Fransisco Giants took the MLB Commissioner’s trophy, beating the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in game 7 of the World Series. It was an excellent back and forth series and ace Giants pitcher, Madison Bumgarner, was the critical piece to get the Giants the win. Bumgarner came into game 7 as a reliever in the 4th inning and ended up pitching the remainder of the game – shutting down the Royals lineup. Quite impressive considering that he had just pitched a complete game shutout just a few days earlier. Bumgarner, 25, currently holds the World Series record for career ERA with .25. Needless to say, Bumgarner was the MVP of the World Series and will likely be the recipient of the NY Baseball Writers Association’s Babe Ruth Award in a couple weeks!
